About R-Qi-Tek
Bio
R-Qi-Tek (Amiir Saleem) is a first-generation Londoner whose life has been shaped by culture, chaos, and creativity. Born and raised in the city, he navigated a dysfunctional household and the identity struggles that came with cultural dysmorphia. Art, Science, and Philosophy gave him perspective, but poetry gave him an outlet—one that quickly evolved into rap.
Hip-Hop hit him late, but when it did, it hit hard. The raw energy of early 90s Boom Bap and the culture surrounding it became an obsession. If he wasn’t going to be an emcee, he was damn sure going to embody the culture, so he became a BBoy, pushing himself to an international level with Soul Mavericks. Then, life threw a curveball—a broken wrist. With breaking no longer an option, he dove headfirst into mixology, mastering the art of craft cocktails in London’s most exclusive members' clubs, dubbing himself a "Liquid Chef."
The rhythm never left, though. Frequenting Ronnie Scott, he got schooled in Jazz by the right people, learning what made a track timeless and what made it trash. That knowledge fused with his Hip-Hop foundation, shaping his ear for production. Today, he creates for himself and for others, producing music that’s raw, intelligent, and laced with the experiences of someone who’s lived every word he spits.
Beyond the music, R-Qi-Tek is a voice—literally. As a voice-over artist, he’s lent his voice to projects like HDR by Barco, narrated audiobooks, and mastered a range of accents, proving that storytelling isn’t just about what you say, but how you say it.
His influences are clear: 90s Hip-Hop, Comedy, Psychedelics, Philosophy, Poetry, and the unpredictable madness of life itself. Every track, every verse, and every project is built on a foundation of hard-earned wisdom and creative precision.
